Intended learning outcomes
Students completing this course unit should be able to:
- Understand the procedures on how to model real physical systems, particularly electronic circuits,translational and rotational mechanical systems, water tank level models, thermal systems and electro-mechanical;
- Analyse and classify the dynamic behaviour of LTI systems, in time and frequency domain, using the previously obtained mathematical models;
- Identify the type of LTI systems ( by obtaining their transfer functions) from output dynamics;
- Understand the objectives and limitations of PID and frequency compensation control design;
- Project, evaluate, simulate and test a project using LTI systems, based on the type of controllers that were studied;
- Elaborate a report describing the designed control procedures that were tested and implemented. This report should include a clear description of results and design considerations.
